Healthy economy and incessant growth are paramount for the socio-economic development of any country, its people and the same is driven by knowledge, skills and competitiveness of its people. We are no exception. IT revolution is testimony to this. However IT alone is not enough and similar contribution is expected from other sectors. Unfortunately same is not happening due to acute skill shortages in other sectors (2% skilled manpower as against average 70% in developed countries). Formation of an independent Ministry for Skill Development by Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflects a lot about gravity of this issue…
